Join us online for Gaada’s next artist talk by by Bergen based artist, Imi Maufe.
Imi is multi-disciplinary artist working internationally across performance, installation, print, and book-making projects.
Imi will be discussing her sea-based journeys, with a focus on how her practice has woven links between different geographic communities through letterpress and book-making projects.
Imi is a member of the artist-run studios Bergen Ateliergruppe and also runs the Nordic artist book collective Codex Polaris - who have recently curated the large scale artist book exhibition and seminar in Kristiansand. In her spare time, Imi also volunteers at the Letterpress Workshop at the Bergen Technical Museum.
Imi has had a long working relationship with Shetland which goes back to a 2005 artist residency at The Booth in Scalloway, which she began only few days after completing an MA in Multi-disciplinary Printmaking from UWE Bristol. Since then her practice has travelled widely for visual art projects, collaborations, exhibitions, workshops, book fairs and residencies - including on board The Swan (Shetland) during the Tall Ships Races in 2011; a year long residency in Northern England for Visual Arts in Rural Communities and in GG Print Studios in the Swedish forest.
