Get to grips with RISO printing and explore the joy of making zines in this hands-on workshop. We will unpack the wonders of the RISO stencil duplicator and explore examples of how these machines have been used to make some exciting and inspirational zines, taking a dive into the Island Zine Library at the Toogs Artist Workshop.
Workshop Outline
After a brief introduction to Zines and the RISO duplicator, you’ll experiment with two-colour printing to produce your own A4 spread, that will form one page in the Collaborative Concertina Zine! We will bind the pages together into a beautiful zine for you to take home!
What to expect
Unlike digital printing, this workshop celebrates the craft of manual, analogue techniques. You'll use the integrated flatbed scanner to transform your handmade creations into print-ready designs right on the machine—no digital artwork preparation needed!
Each session is led by two experienced Gaada printmakers who will guide you through every step, from creating your image and getting to grips with the equipment, to printing your final 2 colour edition.
This session also acts as an induction to the RISO area of the Workshop, which enables you to continue learning through Open Access Sessions at the Toogs Artist Workshop.
