We are so excited to welcome people back to Gaada!

In the last few weeks, we have welcomed the reintroduction of socially distanced workshops at Gaada and our first priority as we ‘open up’ has been to focus on settling back into the pace of our weekly Artist One-to-One’s.

We have been amazed to finally see (in-person) the breadth, beauty and sheer volume of work that has been created by the artists who have been accessing Gaada’s remote weekly workshops throughout the Covid-19 lockdown.

During our first ‘in-person’ session in nearly 6 months with artist Joyce Davies, we were blown away by the monumental leaps Joyce has made in her practice. We took the photograph on the right to show just barely half of the work Joyce has produced over lockdown, yet that small selection easily covered every flat surface in the workshop! It was amazing finally to see these works in real life vivid colours and tones, which included drawings in pencil, chalk, crayons to painting with watercolours, oils and canvas.

We were lost for words when Joyce presented Gaada with the folder pictured below/right. It’s a hefty tome, about 3 inches thick, containing every single piece of correspondance between Gaada and Joyce over lockdown through the remote artist one-to-one’s. It’s an fantastic visual testament of some of the otherwise invisible work artists have put in to support each other throughout covid.

SUPPORTED BY THE WELLBEING FUND
