Gaada’s recent installation at Creekside Artists’ Project Space in Deptford, part of Art Licks Weekend (London).

This installation was the urban edition of our peer research initiative ERRATA (read more here) and consisted of repeat pattern risograph prints which we produced in our Burra studio and engulfed the walls of Creekside Artists Project Space in Deptford. The prints accumulated into a large landscape populated with provocations and questions from Gaada regarding the difficulties experienced by artists moving between rural and urban contexts. Visitors were encouraged to add their own text-based response to the landscape, via markers and acetates.

Due to funding constraints, we were not able to attend the installation, but instead visitors and tours video-called the Gaada studio where we had some really interesting and insightful conversations. A huge thank you to our Deptford hosts at Creekside Artists (with special thanks to Robin Tarbet and Meng Ni Beh), who kindly installed, invigilated, and de-installed the work before returning the visitor responses to Shetland. These responses will filter in to a growing research publication we are developing + the next stage of rural ERRATA events.

One last thank you must be made to Holly Willats, the fantastic director of Art Licks!
