Seeing Things (Together) Weemin’s Wark at Glasgow Woman’s Library

Glasgow Womans Library are hosting ‘Seeing Things (Together)’ a free event on 26th March at 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm which will focus on Weemin’s Wark.

Glasgow Woman’s Library host sessions in which participants can take a virtual “trip” to see or watch something as group, this could be short films, performances, online exhibitions or music. For this session, GWL will be focussing on the work of the artists and writers involved in Weemin’s Wark, Gaada’s 2019/20 programme of community workshops, cultural research, artist exhibitions, and publishing activities which Glasgow Woman’s Library was as partner of.

During January 2021, GWL were due to host an exhibition of work created during the project by Brooke Palmieri, Holly Graham, Hannah Harkes, Isabel Greenberg, Esther McManus and Roseanne Watt. However, due to national lockdown the exhibition had to be postponed, fingers crossed we can share this work at GWL soon!

Weemin’s Wark aimed to increase the visibility of women’s contribution to contemporary island culture. The project provided a safe space in which to examine notions of labour for Women and allies who challenge structures of social and institutional inequality.

You can find out more about the event here and about the GWL Weemin’s Wark exhibition here.
