UHI Workshop Bursary Award

With the return of physical Degree Show’s, Gaada was excited to offer a Workshop Bursary Award to a local UHI Shetland art student.

To make our selection, we had the pleasure of viewing the Creative Industries’ end of year show Vision 22, which included the work of students studying on the Fine Art Degree, Contemporary Textiles Degree, National Certificate portfolio, and Core + Life Skills courses.

From a wealth of incredible artworks, we chose to award Elouise Spooner a Gaada Workshop Bursary for the outstanding effort displayed in her Degree Show work.

“In my practice I find inspiration from my experiences and create work using graphic text and images to discuss what it means to be a bit reckless and full of newfound freedom. In this show I used old furniture, clothes, bed sheets, cardboard, housepaint and household ‘trash’. I ultimately reject any form of professionalism when it comes to process, and value expression and fun over perfectionism.”

Elouise will be welcomed to Gaada to use our visual art workshop facilities and staff support to explore new ways of working and realise a short visual art project.

We look forward to working with you, Elouise!
