The Wound in Full Vigour

£40.00

Belladonna Paloma

This edition draws upon the artist’s ongoing research into the transexual potential surrounding Jesus Christ, not least of which being his vaginoplasty-like/top surgery scar-esq side wound. The side wound has been a popular symbol of veneration, particularly among female mystics of the Middle Ages (such as Margery Kempe, Catherine of Siena, and Julian of Norwich). The title references a triumphant, ecstatic line from the Book of Job (5:23): “come to the grave in full vigour, like the stacking of grain in its season”.

Three colour silkscreen print on Southbank 250gsm paper

38 × 56 cm
