Gaada receives 2024 Heritage Award

We’re very proud to announce that readers of Scotland’s LGBTQ+ magazine, @somewhere_forus , have nominated Gaada for the 2024 Heritage Award - and we’ve won!

Readers particularly recognised the work we did this year on the Island Zine Library - a specialist resource containing over 600 artist-made publications and collections. Also noted was our collaboration with the #ShetlandCrew, a group of care experience young people living in Shetland. Our work together culminated in, Zines for Hoping + Coping, a collection of 10 individuals zines which creatively explored their personal experiences and journeys through the care system in Shetland. Gaada is currently bringing together these works, with additional content, into a single publication which will be shared with new users accessing Shetland's care services.

We are incredibly grateful to Somewhere For Us and their Readers for this acknowledgment, and our team looks forward to returning in 2025 and continuing our work providing inclusive opportunities and support to artists in Shetland.

Gaada wishes to also thank it's funders Creative Scotland and the Shetland Charitable Trust for enabling our social enterprises work, and also to Sián Wild at Who Cares? Scotland for her invaluable support during the project.
